UX Engineer /Designer, Developer, Researcher, Storyteller

I make complex systems feel obvious.

I transform complex enterprise systems into experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and beautifully crafted, through strategy, research, systems thinking, and AI-assisted design. Then I build them. Research and Figma at one end, production front-end code at the other: HTML and CSS, JavaScript and its frameworks, SwiftUI on iOS, and whatever else the stack needs.

01Before the first vector

A blank Figma canvas is the most seductive lie in this work. It will let you make something beautiful out of nothing, and nothing is what it will be worth. So I stay out of it a while. I go looking for the product, for the rival who already solved this, for the small defeated breath a person lets out when a screen has taught them to expect less. That breath is the brief. Everything drawn before you hear it is decoration.

02The fight, then the marriage

Beauty and usability do not arrive as friends. The elegant screen hides the one control somebody needs at six in the morning with three tabs open, and the obvious one can land like a form from the DMV. I refuse to choose between them. I keep them both in the room, arguing, until the design earns its beauty by being the easiest thing to use. That truce is the craft, and it is the part that takes years.

03What survives the build

All of it stays a claim until it runs, so I build it. React and TypeScript on the web, SwiftUI on iOS, prototypes that behave like the product instead of describing it. Design is not finished when it is approved. It is finished when someone moves through it without noticing it and gets on with their day.

  1. 2024 — present

    Clarest Health

    End-to-end UX: research, design, front-end

    ResearchFigmaReactTypeScript

Embedded on the pharmacy floor of a five-location long-term care network, designing the platform that replaces the legacy system its staff run on. I run the whole arc: discovery research with 50 pharmacists, technicians and clinical staff under HIPAA constraints, the synthesis, the redesign of the pharmacy's highest-risk workflow, and the working web prototype the usability rounds are tested in.

  2. 2023 — 24

    Balance

Product designer & iOS developer, independent product

    SwiftUISwiftDataHealthKitFirebase

A health and wellness iOS app designed, built and shipped solo, from first sketch to working SwiftUI views, with HealthKit activity data and Firebase authentication behind it.

  3. 2022 — 23

    Slide UX

    UX design consultant, agency

    ResearchUsability testingFigma

Agency work across the full arc of a study for enterprise and SaaS clients: setting up the research, writing the questions, designing the screens, running the analysis, and taking the findings through final rounds of design.

    Clients

    • Thomson Reuters · ThoughtTrace, now Document Intelligence
    • American Board of Radiology
    • Tigera · Kubernetes security
  4. 2021

    Rochester Institute of Technology

    UX/UI developer intern, ISTE

    ReactMaterial-UIUsability testing

Research and front-end on the same project: usability testing on an internal dashboard, then building the reusable React and Material-UI components that answered what the testing found, including the live gauge visualizations at the center of it.

  5. 2020

    SusArc Tech

    UX engineer intern

    AngularTypeScriptPython

UI development in Angular and TypeScript for Markadoc, a real-time collaborative document platform, through to its beta launch and the onboarding, live QA and documentation that came with it. I am a named inventor on the platform's U.S. patent application, still pending.

Rochester Institute of Technology

B.S. Human-Centered Computing, cum laude

A degree built deliberately between computer science and psychology, which is still how I work: understand why someone hesitates, then build the thing that removes it.

Commencement delegate for the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, chosen from the top of the class on grades and an interview to give the student address at graduation.
